Kristin Hoffmann

she, her, hers
Research and Scholarly Communication Librarian at University of Western Ontario
Areas of expertise
I am currently a scholarly communication librarian focusing on journal publishing with OJS, open access generally, and some support for the institutional repository and bibliometrics.
I was a subject librarian for most of my career, and I've been a department head (supervisor/manager). I'm an active researcher and journal editor, and I've delivered workshop and advised individuals about doing research and publishing as an academic librarian. I have held numerous positions with our faculty association, including serving on negotiating committees for collective agreements.

I am happy to:
- give feedback on draft articles (one of my favourite things to do!)
- answer academic library questions in general
- talk about how to approach research projects
- talk about working in scholcomm and with journal publishing
- review job applications & resumes for academic library positions
- give advice about contract negotiating for a new position

Lise Brin

she, her, hers, elle, sa, sienne
Program Officer, Canadian Association of Research Libraries
Areas of expertise
I was a librarian for 8 years in a small, primarily undergraduate university setting, where I was involved in reference, instruction, outreach, and collections, but developed expertise primarily in the areas of copyright and scholarly communication.

I now work at a library association, juggling many projects, participating in some in a more administrative role and in others in a more direct, contributing role. Although I am a member of a team that collaborates closely, my work is currently done remotely (telecommuting).

Prior to becoming a librarian, I worked in film and TV production and at various Toronto film festivals.
Can help with
I am happy to talk to people who are:
- interested in finding a position in academic libraries (whether straight out of their Master's or moving from another type of library)
- moving from working in the arts to working in libraries
- bilingual, and interested in working in both French and English
- considering positions done via telecommuting
- interested in Scholarly Communications, Copyright, Open Education
- curious about library association work

...or whatever else you think I may be able to help you with!
